KIEL, Germany (Kyodo) -- Japanese forward Shuto Machino netted both goals for Holstein Kiel in their 4-2 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, taking his tally to four goals in German top-flight football this season.
Machino made it 1-1 from the penalty spot in the 30th minute after the visitors had taken the lead at Holstein-Stadion through Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush.
Newly promoted Kiel earned the spot kick when Lewis Holtby was brought down as Machino played him into scoring position with a ball from the left side.
Frankfurt retook the lead early in the second half before Machino equalized again in the 50th minute, intercepting an attempted corner kick clearance and driving in a shot from the edge of the box.
Marmoush put Frankfurt back in front in the 65th minute and Brazilian defender Tuta made it 4-2 nine minutes later.
The 25-year-old Machino was the hero for Kiel the previous weekend, netting an 89th-minute equalizer off the bench as they drew 2-2 away to Bochum.
Kiel remain without a win after five rounds of the Bundesliga season.
In the French top flight, Japanese national team wingers Keito Nakamura and Junya Ito both netted for Reims in a 3-1 victory away to Angers.
Nakamura scored for the third game in a row, bringing his season tally to three, when he controlled a ball over the top and finished confidently to give Reims the lead in the ninth minute.
Samurai Blue teammate Ito doubled the margin from close range when the ball rebounded from a save in the 25th minute. The win moved Reims up to 11 points in fourth place.
