KAWASAKI, Japan (Kyodo) -- Japan's Kawasaki Frontale fell 1-0 at home to South Korea's Gwangju FC in the second round of the Asian Champions League Elite competition on Tuesday.

At Todoroki Stadium, Jasir Asani, who scored a hat-trick in Gwangju's 7-3 demolition of Yokohama F Marinos in the opening round, converted from the penalty spot after defender Cesar Haydar fouled Kim Jin Ho in the area.

Frontale were denied in the 77th minute, when a sizzling Erison header was saved by Gwangju keeper Kim Kyeong Min. Marcinho pounced on the rebound at the far post, headed the rebound across the face of the goal to Erison who was unable to poke it home from point-blank range.

The hosts fell to 1-1 from two games in the rebranded Asian club competition.
