On October 13 in the city of Iga, Mie Prefecture, a dance cherished by local residents called "Shinji-odori at Katte Shrine" was held. People carried gorgeous decorations called ochizui on their backs and drums called kakko on their chests. They paraded in the neighborhood and danced at the shrine. "Shinji-odori at Katte Shrine" is registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Note: Shinji-odori literally means "Shinto ritual dance."
