JINAN, China (Kyodo) -- Shandong Taishan defender Zheng Zheng equalized in the second minute of injury time to deny visiting Yokohama F Marinos victory in a 2-2 draw in the Asian Champions League Elite on Tuesday.
Yan Matheus appeared to fire home the winner for the visitors with his powerful strike from edge of the box in the 87th minute at Jinan Olympic Sports Center.
The Chinese Super League club had the final say, however, with Zheng heading past Hiroki Iikura after the Marinos goalkeeper had saved an initial attempt from the center-back.
The deadlock moved the J-League side to four points from one win, one loss and one draw after three rounds of the ACLE league stage.
Brazilian forward Cryzan gave the hosts the lead with his shot from the edge of the area in the 43rd minute.
Marinos' Brazilian connection evened the ledger from a 54th-minute set play, with Eduardo heading Matheus's corner kick to the six-yard box for Anderson Lopes to nod into the net.
Mateus' goal, off an assist from Ren Kato, sparked victory celebrations among the Marinos players and traveling fan contingent, but they proved to be premature.
