Gist of Japan economic stimulus package

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The following is the gist of the economic stimulus package worth 39 trillion yen ($250 billion) approved by the Japanese government on Friday.
The government will:
-- give 30,000 yen in cash handouts to low-income households exempt from resident tax.
-- raise the nontaxable income threshold from the current 1.03 million yen to boost disposable incomes.
-- provide subsidies to curb electricity, gas and gasoline price hikes.
-- compile a 13.9 trillion yen extra budget to help finance the package.
-- extend multiyear support to the artificial intelligence and semiconductor industries.
