TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The husband and eldest daughter of Liberal Democratic Party lawmaker Kuniko Inoguchi remained unaccounted for Thursday after a fire at the family's Tokyo condominium, metropolitan police said, though two bodies found at the scene have yet to be positively identified.
Inoguchi's husband, Takashi, 80, a professor emeritus of politics and international relations at the University of Tokyo, and her 33-year-old eldest daughter were captured on security camera footage in the building late Wednesday afternoon, according to investigative sources.
When the fire broke out in the evening, Inoguchi and her second daughter were not home. The family of four lived together in the complex.
A report was made after 7 p.m. that a fire had started at the six-story condominium building in Bunkyo Ward of the Japanese capital. Around 150 square meters of the sixth floor was burned.
The blaze was extinguished at around 3:50 a.m. Thursday.
Police are continuing to inspect the scene, with investigators entering the home to search for the fire's origin and confirm the identities of the bodies.
