GOSFORD, Australia (Kyodo) -- Kenta Inoue sparked Yokohama F Marinos with an early brace Tuesday in their 4-0 Asian Champions League Elite game against Australia's Central Coast Mariners.
The win was a happy homecoming for Marinos head coach John Hutchinson, who once played for Central Coast and got his first managing experience there.
The win at Central Coast Stadium saw Marinos go to 13 points from six games and move past fellow J-League side Vissel Kobe on goal difference as they battle South Korea's Gwangju FC for the ACLE's East league's lead.
Inoue put Marinos ahead in the sixth minute when he curled a wicked shot off the knee of central defender Nathan Paull and past keeper Dylan Peraic-Cullen.
The keeper missed trying to block Inoue's 30th-minute goal after a deflected shot fell to the Marinos forward, and he calmly found the net.
"We've had a lot of goal-scoring opportunities that we haven't taken advantage of, and some of those were because of me," Inoue said. "But today I was focused on finishing, and it's great that my goals led the way to a win."
Six minutes later, a well-struck Anderson Lopes shot took a lucky deflection off a defender, looped over Peraic-Cullen's reach and in just under the bar. Jun Amano scored with his 70th-minute free kick that Peraic-Cullen must not have seen since he barely moved.
In Pohang, South Korea, Vissel, who can clinch their second straight J-League championship with a win in Sunday's final round, rested a number of key players in their first loss of the tournament, 3-1 to FC Pohang Steelers.
