Tennis: Japan to host Britain in Davis Cup 1st-round qualifier

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan will open its 2025 Davis Cup bid at home against Britain in one of 13 first-round qualifying ties drawn Monday at the International Tennis Federation headquarters in London.
The qualifiers are scheduled to begin following the conclusion of the Australian Open in late January.
The winning teams will advance to the second round of qualifying next September, where they will vie to join host Italy at the eight-nation finals in November.
Japan booked its place in the qualifiers by defeating Colombia in a World Group I tie this past September.
