RAZGRAD, Bulgaria (Kyodo) -- Japanese right-back Seiya Maikuma scored his first goal for AZ Alkmaar on Thursday during a 2-2 draw away to Ludogorets in the league phase of the Europa League.
The 27-year-old, who played for Japan at the Asian Cup early in the year and joined the Dutch side in the summer, doubled their lead in the 19th minute in Bulgaria, steering a left-footed effort inside the far post off Ernest Poku's cutback from the right.
AZ conceded two goals in the space of four minutes after the hour mark and settled for a draw, however, as they placed 19th on eight points.
Japan attacker Takefusa Kubo had an assist as Real Sociedad eased past Dynamo Kyiv 3-0 at home to move up to 12th on 10 points.
Kubo laid the ball off inside the box to his left for Sheraldo Becker, whose shot from a tight angle deflected in for Sociedad's second in the 24th minute, sandwiched by two first-half goals from Mikel Oyarzabal.
