TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The Tokyo Stock Exchange said Wednesday it will halt trading of shares in Nissan Motor Co., saying it needs to verify media reports regarding possible merger talks between the company and Honda Motor Co.

Media reports have said Japan's second and third largest automakers are arranging talks on a merger amid fierce global competition in electric vehicles and other sectors.
