TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Sanfrecce Hiroshima Regina defeated INAC Kobe Leonessa 1-0 in Sunday's final to win their second consecutive WE League Cup women's football title in Japan.

Mami Ueno scored from a tight angle in the 33rd minute at National Stadium in front of 21,524 spectators, a record for the pro league, whose first two letters stand for "women's empowerment."

Kobe's Spanish defender Carla Morera came close to equalizing twice in the second half before Miyabi Moriya's last-ditch effort was saved by Hiroshima goalkeeper Runa Konomi.

"Everyone on our team played hard to win," Hiroshima captain Momoko Sayama said. "Our supporters gave us energy to the end. I hope that playing under this exciting atmosphere becomes the norm for women's football."
