LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) -- Two-way star Shohei Ohtani has resumed taking practice swings following left shoulder surgery in early November, Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager Brandon Gomes said Friday.

Ohtani, the unanimous 2024 National League MVP, suffered a dislocation during the World Series Game 2 against the New York Yankees in late October.

After his second right elbow surgery in September 2023 ruled him out of pitching last year, Ohtani is aiming to resume his two-way role when the Dodgers open the 2025 season against the Chicago Cubs in March in Tokyo.

Ohtani is yet to hit a ball but is making good progress ahead of spring training, Gomes said.
