5-star int'l airport honors go to Japan's Narita, Haneda

NARITA, Chiba -- Narita International Airport Corp. (NAA) announced that it had earned a "5-Star Airport" rating for its second consecutive year in an international airport ranking released by British aviation research company Skytrax.
Narita International Airport in Chiba Prefecture and Haneda Airport in Tokyo's Ota Ward rank among 12 hub airports awarded the highest Skytrax World Airport Star Rating, a global benchmark of quality evaluation for the airport industry.
According to the company's website, Narita airport received high ratings in 11 categories, including public transportation options and for having comfortable terminals.
Other hub airports that received the 5-star rating include Doha Hamad International Airport in Qatar; Haikou Meilan International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, and Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport in China; Istanbul Airport in Turkey; Munich Airport in Germany; Rome Fiumicino Airport in Italy; Seoul Incheon International Airport in South Korea; and Singapore Changi Airport in Singapore.
NAA has apparently been making efforts to improve guidance services and promote Japanese culture amid the recovery of inbound tourism. The company expressed its excitement in a press release, stating, "We aim to become an airport that customers can trust even more in the future."
