SEOUL (Kyodo) -- A South Korean court has reissued a warrant to detain impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol in connection with his short-lived declaration of martial law, the country's anti-corruption body said Tuesday.
A senior official of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials said, "We will make thorough preparations and do our best, with the determination that the next execution will be the last," adding the new warrant's duration cannot be disclosed.
Early last week, the Seoul Western District Court issued an initial warrant to detain Yoon, but investigators gave up efforts to enforce it on Friday after an hours-long standoff with the presidential security service at the entrance to his residence.
The previous detention warrant, the first ever issued for an incumbent South Korean president, was valid until Monday.
