TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan, the United States, Australia and India are arranging to hold a meeting of their top diplomats in the United States on Jan. 21, timing it around the inauguration of Donald Trump as U.S. president, a Japanese government source said Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya said he will attend Trump's inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20.
Last month, the grouping, known as the Quad, released a statement, vowing to remain committed to their shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The Quad was launched in 2004 in response to the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.
