NEW YORK (Kyodo) -- The Washington Nationals said Friday they have signed Japanese left-hander Shinnosuke Ogasawara to a two-year deal.
The contract is worth $3.5 million, according to The Associated Press. Friday was the last day of his 45-day posting window to sign with a Major League Baseball club.
The 27-year-old, whose stock in trade is changing speeds, attracted interest from several clubs after being posted by the Chunichi Dragons in December.
Chunichi's first-round signing in the 2015 draft, Ogasawara posted a 46-65 record with a 3.62 ERA in 161 games over his nine seasons, all with the Dragons.
In 2024, Ogasawara had a 5-11 record with a 3.12 ERA in 24 games. He pitched on Opening Day in 2018 and 2023.
