TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan's IBF light flyweight champion Masamichi Yabuki will fight its flyweight champion Angel Ayala of Mexico in a boxing world title bout on March 29, the organizers said Monday.
The 32-year-old Yabuki is not vacating his title and would not lose it either even if he is beaten by his 24-year-old opponent at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, according to the organizers.
"A fight between champions gives me real motivation," Yabuki told a press conference in Tokyo. "I'll be putting everything I have toward this bout."
Promotor Koki Kameda said, "Under the IBF rules, it is not a problem to challenge for (another) belt while keeping one."
On March 30 at the same venue, Japan's Yudai Shigeoka will look to reclaim the WBC minimumweight title in a rematch with current champion Melvin Jerusalem.
The 27-year-old Shigeoka failed with his first title defense last March when he lost in a split decision against the 30-year-old Filipino.
"I'll fight a more heated bout than last time and definitely get revenge," Shigeoka said.
