LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) -- Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto was among those honored at the annual Grammy Awards, considered the highest accolade in the U.S. music industry, as announced Sunday in Los Angeles.
"Triveni," which Matsumoto had contributed to, received a Grammy award for best new age, ambient or chant album. She was also involved in a project that earned a Grammy in 2022.
Meanwhile, an album by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, who died in 2023 at age 71, was nominated in the same category but was not selected. He previously shared a Grammy in 1989 for his musical contribution to the Oscar-winning film "The Last Emperor."
