Judo: Olympic silver medalist Murao among Japanese winners in Baku

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Paris Olympic silver medalist Sanshiro Murao was victorious in the men's 90-kilogram division Sunday as Japanese judoka concluded the Baku Grand Slam with four golds on the final day of competition.
The 24-year-old Murao took a big step toward representing Japan at this year's world championships with his strong performance in the Azerbaijan capital.
Having received an early shido penalty in the final against Brazil's Marcelo Fronckowiak, Murao turned up the pressure and scored a waza-ari before holding down his opponent for ippon.
Dota Arai claimed the men's 100-kg title after executing a foot-sweep for ippon in the opening seconds of his final with Brazil's Leonardo Goncalves.
Ruri Takahashi earned her maiden Grand Slam gold by pinning Turkey's Hilal Ozturk for ippon in the women's over-78-kg final.
Hyoga Ota secured Japan's 10th gold in the last bout of the tournament, winning the men's over-100-kg final in golden score with a counter against Russian opponent Tamerlan Bashaev.
