Speed skating: Olympic champ Takagi extends win streak in Poland

TOMASZOW MAZOWIECKI, Poland (Kyodo) -- Japanese speed skater Miho Takagi maintained her dominance in the women's 1,000 meters at the World Cup round in Poland on Saturday, earning her fifth win from five starts over the distance this season.
The reigning Olympic 1,000 champion clocked 1 minute, 14.80 seconds at the Arena Lodowa in Tomaszow Mazowiecki to finish 1.51 seconds ahead of China's Han Mei in second place.
Japan's Rio Yamada earned her first World Cup medal by finishing third in 1:16.33.
The 30-year-old Takagi took her career tally to 12 World Cup victories in the 1,000 and 36 over all distances.
In the men's 1,000, U.S. star Jordan Stolz also made it five straight wins in a time of 1:08.42, while Japan's Ryota Kojima finished eighth in 1:09.63.
