DENVER (Kyodo) -- Rui Hachimura scored 21 points, had four assists and helped limit Denver Nuggets linchpin Nikola Jokic to a season-low two field goals Saturday in a 123-100 win for the Los Angeles Lakers, who snapped their opponent's nine-game win streak.
The Japanese forward went 7-from-12 from the field, including 4-from-9 from three-point range, while playing tight defense on the 211-centimeter Serbian star, whose seven field goal attempts were also a season-low.
"No giving (Jokic) an easy touch," Hachimura said about the role he was given pre-match. "He is, of course, the main guy for them, so if we disrupt him, it's going to be hard for them to operate the offense.
"So our defense plan was to disrupt him from half-court. Once he gets into half-court, I've got to be on him...the whole time. It was a great game plan, and the team did a really good job."
Luka Doncic, who joined Los Angeles this winter in a blockbuster trade, had his best scoring return in a Laker uniform with 32 points, while LeBron James and Austin Reaves added 25 and 23 points, respectively, for the road team.
Hachimura, who left the court in the fourth quarter holding the left side of his ribcage, said he was feeling fine after the game, which he called his best since Doncic's arrival.
