TRONDHEIM, Norway (Kyodo) -- Japanese ski jumper Ryoyu Kobayashi bounced back from his normal hill seventh-place finish to claim third in the individual large hill event at the Nordic skiing world championships on Saturday.
Kobayashi, who earned normal hill gold and large hill silver at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, had jumps of 135.5 and 137.0 meters for a total of 284.7 points in Trondheim, Norway.
"I wanted to win gold, but I'm very satisfied with my performance," Kobayashi said. "I'm happy with this bronze. It gives me confidence."
As for next year's Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, the 28-year-old said, "I'll try to be in a position to contend for a medal."
Slovenia's Domen Prevc won with 301.8 points, 15.2 ahead of Austria's Jan Hoerl.
Host nation favorite Jarl Magnus Riiber won the men's Nordic combined individual large hill event on the same day, the 10th of the 2025 championships.
Riiber picked up his third gold of the championships and a record-extending sixth career world individual gold for a Nordic combined skier.
