TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Tokyo stocks were almost flat early Friday, as selling following overnight losses on Wall Street was offset by buying of some export-related issues on a weaker yen.

On the top-tier Prime Market, decliners were led by air transportation and service issues, while nonferrous metal and transportation equipment shares were the main gainers.
