A closing ceremony was held on March 24 at Ryugasaki Municipal Omiya Elementary School in Ibaraki Prefecture, which will close at the end of March. About 170 students and community members bid farewell to the school. The facility was originally built in 1876. The school's 149-year history comes to an end as the number of students has decreased due to the declining birth rate and other factors. After the closing, it will be integrated with Ryugasaki Elementary School.
