SEOUL (Mainichi) -- South Korean police announced March 31 that they have suspended investigations into a Japanese woman accused of forcibly kissing BTS member Jin at an event last June, Yonhap News Agency has reported.
The woman in her 50s had been asked to turn herself in by South Korean authorities over a suspected violation of the sexual assault punishment law.
According to reports by South Korean media, police regulations stipulate that if a suspect remains overseas for more than two months and it's impossible to investigate, the authorities may suspend the investigation.
The South Korean police were also aware of another woman's sexual harassment but were unable to locate her. Yonhap News Agency quoted a police official as saying, "If the woman comes forward, we will resume the investigation."
Jin, 32, completed his approximately 18-month military service last June and held a fan event in Seoul. A video showing a fan attempting to kiss Jin who looked visibly uncomfortable spread online. His fans later filed a complaint with the police through a government-run petition site.
