NAGOYA -- A 21-year-old man was arrested without a warrant on suspicion of abandoning a high school student's corpse at his home in the city of Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture, the local police announced on April 1.
Masaki Eguchi is specifically accused of abandoning the body inside a closet in his home at around 11:40 p.m. on March 31.
According to the Aichi Prefectural Police's Ichinomiya Station, the body was found lying on its back, wrapped in what appeared to be cloth and taped up. There were stab wounds on her neck and shoulder, and the police are currently investigating the cause of death.
The suspect, who is unemployed, reportedly admitted to the charges, telling police, "There's no mistake that I did it." Police say he also made statements suggesting his involvement in the woman's death.
According to investigative sources, the deceased is believed to be a 16-year-old student who was attending a public high school in Tokyo. The girl on March 28 told her mother that she would be staying at the home of a friend within the prefecture, who she had met through online gaming, before going out. The parent reported her missing after losing contact with her the following afternoon.
Another prefectural police department informed the Aichi Prefectural Police at around 8:30 p.m. on March 31, "A woman has gone missing and she may be at Eguchi's residence." Ichinomiya Police Station officers then visited the suspect's home and discovered the body.
