HIROSHIMA (Kyodo) -- Yukari Kinga, a member of Japan's 2011 Women's World Cup-winning team, will retire at the end of this season, her WE League football club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima Regina, said Tuesday.
The 40-year-old defender has played 100 matches for the national team, nicknamed Nadeshiko Japan, mainly as a side back, scoring five goals.
She also contributed to Nadeshiko's silver medal-winning campaign at the 2012 London Olympics.
During her club football career, Kinga played in countries such as England and Australia, as well as other domestic teams like Nippon TV Beleza and INAC Kobe Leonessa.
"From the bottom of my heart, I feel happy to be able to end my career with this club and in the city of Hiroshima," Kinga said in a statement through the team.
