Scallop fishing for the spring season has begun in Nemuro Bay in Hokkaido. Many big scallops were caught, and the port became lively. On April 1, four boats caught a total of 28 metric tons of scallops. One fisher said, "There are many big scallops this year, so we are hopeful for the future." Scallop fishing in Nemuro Bay takes place in spring and fall. Spring fishing is planned until June.
