TOKYO -- Trouble between a passenger and a conductor aboard a bullet train on the Tohoku Shinkansen Line in northeastern Japan resulted in damage to a window, causing delays to the service, East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) announced on April 13.
According to JR East, the incident occurred around 7:55 p.m. on April 13, near the deck area of car No. 13 on the Hayabusa-Komachi No. 40 train bound from Shin-Aomori and Akita stations to Tokyo Station. Following the altercation, the train made an unscheduled stop at Shin-Hanamaki Station in Iwate Prefecture.
Due to the apparent damage to the door's window glass, passengers in car No. 13 were relocated to different carriages. The bullet train resumed operations around 8:30 p.m. As a result, services were delayed by 34 minutes, affecting approximately 1,000 passengers.
JR East stated that "details are currently under investigation by Iwate Prefectural Police." The prefectural police's Hanamaki Police Station declined to release detailed information about the incident.
