Ahead of the full-scale start of the new tea season, the first tea picking was held at the Matsukawa Chaen tea field in the city of Shizuoka on April 9. Here, they are cultivating the Kondo Wase variety. This tea can be picked about 10 days earlier than the commonly available Yabukita variety and is characterized by a sweet, flowerlike aroma. Thirty people carefully picked new shoots and harvested 100 kilograms.
