LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) -- Rui Hachimura scored nine points with five rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers' 117-95 Game 1 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs Saturday.
The Japanese forward went 3-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-7 from three-point range, in nearly 30 minutes of play at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Jaden McDaniels led the sixth-seeded Timberwolves with 25 points, followed by Naz Reid's 23.
Luka Doncic had a game-high 37 points and LeBron James added 19 for the third-seeded Lakers.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Tuesday at the same arena.
