WASHINGTON (Kyodo) -- Japanese Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato said he will hold talks with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday in Washington.

Kato also told reporters late Wednesday that he described President Donald Trump's hefty tariffs on imports as "extremely regrettable" when speaking at a meeting of his Group of Seven counterparts in the U.S. capital.
