TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Former WBA super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka pledged Monday to get revenge on current title holder Fernando Martinez of Argentina on May 11 in Tokyo.

Martinez won the championship belt from Ioka by unanimous decision last July. Their rematch was originally scheduled for Dec. 31, but was canceled after Martinez contracted influenza.

"I'll definitely get revenge and reclaim the title," said Ioka, who has had about 100 rounds of sparring for the upcoming bout at Ota Ward gymnasium.

The 36-year-old has won world titles in four different weight classes.

"I have to work more on things such as stamina, otherwise I can't outperform my opponent," Ioka said. "As I've prepared for this match, I've learned the importance of building up over a long period of time. The postponement of the New Year's Eve bout was a plus for me."
