LAS VEGAS (Kyodo) -- Japan's undisputed super bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue and American challenger Ramon Cardenas made weight Saturday on the eve of their title match at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The fighters briefly faced off after both cleared the 122-pound (55.3-kilogram) limit at the flashy weigh-in ceremony conducted in front of around 200 fans.
The 32-year-old Inoue has a 29-0 career record with 26 knockouts, while Cardenas, 29, who is ranked No. 1 by the World Boxing Association, is 26-1 with 14 KOs.
"He seems very calm and well-prepared," Inoue said of his opponent.
Inoue is fighting in the United States for the first time since June 2021, when he knocked out Michael Dasmarinas of the Philippines in the third round to defend his IBF and WBA bantamweight belts in Las Vegas.
