NEW YORK (Kyodo) -- Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the New York Mets in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, skipper Dave Roberts revealed Tuesday.
The right-hander earned his first post-season victory Friday after hurling five shutout innings on two hits against the San Diego Padres in the crucial Game 5 of the National League Division Series, coming out on top in a historic pitching duel with his Japanese countryman Yu Darvish.
The Dodgers and Mets are tied 1-1 in the best-of-seven series after two games at Dodger Stadium. The Mets will host Games 3 to 5 at Citi Field starting Wednesday.
Yamamoto, the highest-paid pitcher in Major League Baseball history after joining the Dodgers on a 12-year, $325-million contract, went 7-2 with a 3.00 ERA in his rookie year despite missing nearly three months through Sept. 10 with a triceps strain.
He faced the Mets once during the regular season and did not get a decision after allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits over six innings on April 19.
