Golf: Colombia's Echavarria wins Zozo Championship in Japan

INZAI, Chiba (Kyodo) -- Colombia's Nico Echavarria birdied the 18th hole to win the PGA Tour's Zozo Championship in Japan on Sunday, edging out Americans Max Greyserman and Justin Thomas by one stroke.
Echavarria shot a 3-under 67 in the final round for a 20-under 260 total at Narashino Country Club in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture. The 30-year-old earned $1.53 million for his second career PGA victory.
He came into the par-5 final hole tied with Greyserman for the lead at 19 under. Thomas was one shot off the pace.
Greyserman could only manage a par after he pushed his tee shot right and was forced to lay up his second shot. Echavarria reached the green in two and made a two-putt birdie.
Yuta Sugiura tied for sixth at 13 under, the highest finish among Japanese players. Hideki Matsuyama, the 2021 Zozo Championship winner, shared 46th at 4 under.
