TOKYO (Kyodo) -- A fire broke out at an apartment unit of Liberal Democratic Party lawmaker Kuniko Inoguchi in Tokyo on Wednesday, police said.

Inoguchi, a member of the House of Councillors, has been contacted after the fire, which started around 7 p.m. at the six-story apartment building in Bunkyo Ward, while the safety of her husband and daughter is unknown, the police said.
