LEICESTER, England (Kyodo) -- Brighton and Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma took responsibility Sunday after his team squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 away to Leicester in the English Premier League.
The Samurai Blue star missed a first-half chance and later played an inadvertent role in the hosts pulling a goal back at 2-1 in the 86th minute, with the ball deflecting off his foot to Leicester forward Jamie Vardy for an easy tap-in.
"I take responsibility for myself, but we as a team also have to be responsible for the way we ended things," Mitoma said.
Brighton opened the scoring at Leicester's King Power Stadium with a first-half strike from Tariq Lamptey and doubled the lead through Yankuba Minteh's effort on 79 minutes.
Leicester secured a share of the points in the first minute of injury time when Bobby De Cordova-Reid equalized with an assist from Vardy.
Now without a win in three rounds, Brighton dropped to seventh on the table with 24 points from 15 matches.
"It's a long season and there are going to be moments like this," Mitoma said. "All we can do is keep moving forward."
