Tokyo sees 1st snow of season, 15 days earlier than average yr

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The season's first snow fell in central Tokyo on Thursday, 15 days earlier than an average year and 25 days earlier than last season, the country's weather agency said.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the temperature measured 3.3 C in the capital at 7 a.m. Thursday, shortly after the snowfall was observed.
Osaka in western Japan also saw its first snow, seven days earlier than average and two days earlier than last season.
The agency warned of heavy snowfall over the mountainous areas in western and southwestern Japan.
