ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Kyodo) -- Japan forward Ayase Ueda scored off the bench as Feyenoord stunned Bayern Munich 3-0 at home in the Champions League preliminary phase on Wednesday, while transfer-linked compatriot Kyogo Furuhashi had three goals ruled out as Celtic edged visiting Young Boys 1-0.
Ueda came on in the 83rd minute and completed the scoring six minutes later at De Kuip, side-footing past Manuel Neuer to help the Dutch outfit seal a place in the knockout phase.
Having only returned to action on the weekend following two-and-a-half months out with a thigh injury, Ueda was congratulated wildly by his teammates.
"There were lots of staff members and players who helped me on my way back. I'm really happy to have contributed to the team," said Ueda, whose goal happened to arrive on his father's birthday and two days after his wife's.
"It came at an important time for me as well. The goal had a lot of background to it."
Mexico forward Santiago Gimenez rushed home the 21st-minute opener and buried a penalty in first-half stoppage time for Feyenoord, who confirmed their finish in the top 24 in the league phase.
Furuhashi had two goals ruled out for offside and another for a foul in the buildup, all in the first half, before Arne Engels also had a penalty saved against the visiting Swiss outfit at Celtic Park.
An 86th-minute own goal saw the Scottish champions also go through to the knockout stage, but Samurai Blue forward Daizen Maeda did not see out the match after being shown a straight red with a minute left in regulation.
The match may have been Furuhashi's last for Celtic, with French paper Le Parisian reporting the club have agreed a 12 million euro transfer with French side Rennes.
The Japan forward, who turned 30 on Monday, has reached double figures in goals in each of his four seasons with Celtic, including the current campaign with his 10 goals tied for most in the league.
