NEW YORK (Kyodo) -- Yuki Kawamura is bound for next month's NBA All-Star weekend after being named Wednesday as the top vote-getter in the fan ballot for the G League Up Next Game.
The Japan men's basketball team guard has averaged 15.2 points, 9.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 12 games for the Memphis Hustle, the developmental G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, who signed him to a two-way contract in October.
The 23-year-old led the Hustle to a 108-102 victory Wednesday over the Oklahoma City Blue with a team-high 23 points, including seven three-pointers, to go with seven assists.
The Up Next Game will feature a tournament-style format with four teams drafted from a player pool including the top 10 players from the fan vote.
Keisei Tominaga, Kawamura's Japanese Olympic teammate, will represent the Indiana Mad Ants in the exhibition game after finishing 10th in the ballot. He has averaged 0.9 point in 14 games for the Mad Ants.
