OSAKA (Kyodo) -- Japanese footwear giant Asics Corp. on Thursday unveiled to the media its new flagship store for popular high-end sneaker brand Onitsuka Tiger in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, which stocks nearly all its products and is its largest store yet.

The four-story shop is set to open Friday with a total floor area of 1,837 square meters. It will sell apparel, bags and fragrances as well as shoes.

A mezzanine floor will host an "amusement area," where visitors can pay to use a capsule toy vending machine to win T-shirts and shoes.

With the latest addition, Asics now has four stores in the Shinjuku area. It is slated to open a store in Nagoya in August and reenter the U.S. market in February 2027, having previously closed its directly operated stores there.

Asics said in June it would spin off Onitsuka Tiger as a wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen the shoe brand's competitiveness, speed up decision-making and drive growth.

Sales for Onitsuka Tiger in 2025 jumped 43 percent from the previous year, driven by demand from foreign tourists.

The brand takes its name from Asics founder Kihachiro Onitsuka and the firm's original name.
