TOKYO (Kyodo) -- A man was arrested Saturday in Tokyo after an unknown substance was sprayed during a cultural festival at a high school, injuring two teachers, police said.

A male teacher at the school in Higashiyamato made an emergency call at around 11:25 a.m. reporting that a man suspected of voyeurism had been apprehended, according to the police.

The police arrested Teppei Soeta, 28, who described himself as unemployed, at the scene on suspicion of assault. The teachers suffered minor injuries, according to the police.

Soeta was quoted by the police as saying he fled after teachers approached him inside the school building while he was secretly filming a female high school student, and that he sprayed tear gas after two male teachers confronted him outside the school gate.

The police found a small camera concealed in a plastic bottle among Soeta's belongings and are examining footage from the device.
